What has happened?

As part of the update to course step editing features (see ) we tried adding a few icons to the various step choices. It looked good and helped to differentiate all the choices from each other. So we (got a bit carried away!) and added some more.

While this is mostly to help new Enlight users when starting out we have released these icons for all users. You may find them useful, a bit of fun, or something you just want to turn off - it is up to you.

What do these icons mean?

The don't mean anything - they are just some little pictures to liven things up a little for fun and to help a little in making things more visually responsive. These icons are only cosmetic (for show) and do not do anything.

There is a Christmas theme set by default currently, but you can also select from a few other choices.

Where are these icons displayed?

The icons show when:

  • creating and editing steps of a course

  • on the "to be marked" answer marking pages (you can turn this off if you don't want them there)

  • and they can also show on the student content pages (if you wish - they are off by default here)

Can you turn the icons off?

Certainly. Turn all the icons off and go back to exactly how it was without icons:

  • go to Account > Organisation > Course settings

  • scroll to the bottom

  • untick "Turn on icons view for steps editing" and click save

Can you test on just one course?

Yes.

  • Turn the override option. Turn of the icons view option. Save.

  • Go to edit for your course of choice. Turn on the icons view option. Make any other setting choices. Save

Wallah, now the icons only apply to that single course (unless you do the same for any others). You can do some testing on that course and then apply settings to more/all courses later as you wish.

Are there any other setting choices?

Lots and lots. You can select which icon set to use, whether to display also on marking pages and student course pages, and whether to allow different icon sets and other settings per course or to just have one setting for all.
