Managing Student Enrollments - Date filtering

Filtering and sorting by date gives you a lot of flexibility to view just the enrollments that you currently want to see

Note: Date filtering and sorting issues are now resolved! It works. 😀

Filter selection:

Date filters are new. These filters work in addition to and with the other filters and allow you to filter enrollments by date settings.

You can choose from "Enrolled" (when first enrolled), "'Started" (when student actually first accessed the course), "Updated" (the last time any update has been made on this student enrollment record), "Completed", "Cancelled" , "Expires" and even, if applicable, "Renewed" (if the student's course enrollment was repeated). You can also choose "Last seen" to filter by when students have last logged on to the system.

Date ranges:

You can also select a date range:

  • If both dates are blank then the filter will return all students based on the other filters (as above) that you've selected - in other words the date filter will not have any effect if both dates are blank

  • If you select an "After" date then only records where that enrollment activity took place after that date are shown

  • If you select a "Before" date then only records where that enrollment activity took place before that date are shown

  • If you select both an "After" and a "Before" date records only between those two dates are shown

  • If you select a "Before" date earlier than the "After" date then no records will be found (of course) - just change the dates again to fix this.

Selecting dates:

  • In most cases you'll find the best way is to click on the calendar icon on each date field to get a pop-up selection calendar to use.

  • You can clear the date by clicking the "Clear" button (bottom left here).

Viewing dates:

You have the option to view just the date filter you are currently using. Or to view all the dates of the student's enrollment. Select from the "Date" choices in the filter options at the top left of the screen.

If you choose the "All dates" setting, then date filter you currently are using will be at the the top of the list and in bold.

If you choose the "Selected Only" setting, then only dates of the date filter you currently are using will be shown.

You will also see a "Last active" field listed in the dates which shows the last time a student did an actual step of the course. You cannot currently filter on this field but it is there for your information.

Sorting:

Results are sorted based on the date filter you selected. You can select an "ascending" or a "descending" sort order.

Note: Sorting by "Last seen" is not currently available.

Limitations:

Note that is is possible to have conflicting filters if you use these data filters and the other filters without care.

For example if you select "Active" from the main filter then that already excludes all "Completed" enrollments - if you then select the "Completed" date filter as well you will of course get no results. There is only a couple of possible conflicts and they should be obvious - especially now you know it is possible. If you make such a conflicting choice just change one or more of your filters and try again - no harm has bene done.

Saving your favorite filters:
