Least barrier to starting - the default setting:
By default when a student sees a course advertised on your Site Page and wants to do it they just need to enter their email address, make payment if required, and they are in and doing your course.
This is great for making the barrier to starting as small as possible - and may be ideal for your use case. If the student wants to come back to your course (which hopefully they will) then they'll need to sign up full with a few more details (name and password) - they do this from the "Course invitation" email that gets sent to them.
Alternative method - force full sign up:
In some scenarios a student may sign up, do your course, and complete it all in the one sitting. And it they don't come back you have no idea, except for an email address, of who they were.
If this case applies to your courses and you don't want that you have the option to force the student to sign up fully from the start ... it adds a little more barrier to the "get in and get started" aspect, but most students are very familiar already with the standard "Activate your account/verify your identity" email you often get when signing up to a new service - so are like to not be too bothered or put off by it. You may turn this on if you wish.
This is the message they get in this case instead of going straight to the course, after entering their email address and clicking the "Enroll now" button:
And this is the email they get:
When they click the "Accept invitation" button in their email they get taken to tis screen:
Turning full sign up on (or off):
How to set "force immediate sign up":
Go to "ACCOUNT" > "+Organisation" > "Course /Settings" and scroll down to the "Force immediate sign-up on course enrollment" section
Tick the "Turn on forced immediate sign up on initial enrollment" option
Click "Save" to activate this choice
Customise this setting per course:
By default once you have turned on this setting then ALL your courses will be set this way. However you may make this setting on a per course basis.
You can set the "Set per courses" option to "On" or "Off" and then click "Set All" to apply that setting to all your courses
Or, you can go down the courses list and set them yourself one-by-one as you require for each course.
In either case then click the "Save" button to make these changes into effect.
Viewing course setting in the course:
You can also view and set this within the course itself:
Go to "COURSES" > "Courses", and find and "Edit" the course.
Under "Course Advertising and Sales Information" view/change the setting "Force new student to do full logon before starting this course?".
Note: The setting will be hidden if the "Can students sign up and pay for this course online?" setting is turned off (as it is inapplicable in that case).
Note: The setting will be greyed-out if the main organisation-wise setting (as above) is turned off (in this case that setting first needs to be turned on).
