Overview
The Enrolment Reset feature allows administrators and instructors to reset a student's enrolment, clearing all their progress so they can start the course again from the beginning. This is useful when a student needs a fresh start — for example, if they were practising, started incorrectly, or need to retake the course content.
What happens when you reset an enrolment?
Resetting an enrolment will:
Delete all answers and submissions — every response the student has made will be removed
Clear all progress — the student's completion percentage returns to 0%
Reset the start date — it will be as if the student has never opened the course
⚠️ This action cannot be undone. Once reset, there is no way to recover the student's previous answers or progress.
When can you reset an enrolment?
You can reset an enrolment as long as the student has not completed all the learning content in the course. If the student has answered every learning question and assignment (with only the final feedback remaining), the reset option will not be available. In that case, you would need to create a new enrolment for the student instead.
How to reset an enrolment
From the Enrolments list
Go to Manage → Enrolments
Find the student's enrolment in the list
Click the Reset link next to their enrolment
A confirmation dialog will appear asking: "Are you sure you want to reset this enrollment? This will delete all their answers and progress. This action cannot be undone."
Click OK to confirm the reset
From the Student's profile
Go to Manage → Students
Click on the student's name to view their profile
Find the enrolment you want to reset
Click the Reset link
Confirm the action when prompted
After resetting
Once the enrolment is reset:
The student will see the course as if they are starting for the first time
Their enrolment expiry date remains unchanged
They do not need a new invitation — they can simply log in and begin again
The student will receive no automatic notification about the reset, so you may want to let them know
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I reset a completed enrolment?
A: No. If the student has completed all learning steps, the Reset option will not appear. You'll need to create a new enrolment instead.
Q: Will the student need a new login?
A: No. Their account and login credentials are not affected. Only their course progress is reset.
Q: Does resetting affect the student's certificate?
A: If the student had not yet completed the course, no certificate would have been issued. The reset clears all progress so they would need to complete the course again to earn a certificate.
Q: Can I undo a reset?
A: No. This action is permanent. Please make sure you want to proceed before confirming.
