Some improvements to the student experience that you can activate for your courses and students.

Up to this point Enlight did not show the student any prior answer(s) they had submitted to a question type step of a course. Additionally instructor feedback was provided in the notification feature and also in a 'flash' pop-up-type message at the top of the screen, but it would disappear after a few movements, and could be something missed by the student in any case.

We have now extended this a little. If you turn this feature on (see next step below on how to do that) then the student can easily see each answer they've submitted on a particular question - whether that was just one answer or they had several attempts. And they can see each instructor response to those answers - both the "passed"/"rejected" status and the instructors comments.

What you have to do to activate this feature:

To turn this feature on simple go to "ACCOUNT" > "Organisation" > "Couse settings" and tick the "Allow students to see prior answers" feature checkbox.

What the student sees:

When the student first sees a "question" or "assignment" type step on their course they will notice no difference.

Then once they submit an answer or file (for "assignment" steps) the will see a "Prior answers" section displaying their answer(s) and a time indication of how long ago they submitted it.

Once the instructor has seen and marked their submission and marked it as "passed" or "rejected" the student will also see that in the main body of the step (in addition to the 'flash' answer at the top of the screen) - both the pass/reject status and the instructors comment.

If there are several iterations of answer attempt and instructor replies all those will be shown there - so the student can see the whole history.

The student can leave all that on the screen or they can press the "hide" button to remove it - and then enter their updated answer attempt etc.

As occurs currently, once an answer has been "passed" by the instructor then the student cannot re-submit any further answers - but they can now still see that steps history as per above.

Here is an example with a reject and pass history:

An assignment type with a file uploaded (in this case an image file):

This one the student has "hidden" the prior answers to take up less screen space while the answer their question:

Rejecting duplicate answers:

It has always been a feature in Enlight, but just mentioning it here ... in addition to the above there is, under each course, the setting "Prevent answers marked as incorrect from being re-submitted until they have been changed" that prevents student just clicking "Update" again and resubmitting the exact same answer. This feature is limited as the student only has to make one tiny change and re-submission is then allowed, but it can be useful if you have situation of students just pressing update over and over and submitting the same answer several times. Currently you have to set this for each course - there is no organisational setting at this time for that.
