Student course purchases management

For a student to enroll on a course they have to make a purchase - even if the course is free. Your Enlight costs are also tied to this.

Overview:

When a student signs up for a course they go through a purchase processes.

If the course is free then there is no financial transaction for the student. You are however billed for each student on Enlight - free or otherwise - so this still needs to be managed.

If the course is a paid course then the student needs to make payment which they can do with credit card. When you create the course you set the currency and the price and this is then given to the student at time of purchase.

Selling in different currencies:

This means you can sell your courses in whatever applicable currency you wish - you can sell separate courses in different currencies but you can only sell any given course in one currency (selling an individual course in multiple currencies is not available at this time).

If you really wanted you could make different copies of your course, one copy for each for each currency, and provide multiple currencies that way, but it would be quite a bit of work to maintain.

Setting up Stripe:

We use the Stripe payment collection service. To enable this transaction you set up a Stripe payment account. Contact us for details (instructions here coming soon).

Viewing purchases/ payments made:

Once the student has successfully made payment you can see the transaction on your Purchases page.

The listing shows the currency and amount the course was sold in.

It shows the fee in US$ (as we always bill you only in US$) and what percentage that was (the percentage is set by your plan).

For transactions not done in US$ it will also show you what the fee was in the original currency, the exchange rate we used for this at the time, and even what the course full price in US$ would have been, based on this exchange rate.

You will also see any course enrollment fee and what the total of these two fees comes to.

The purchase screen also allows you flittering by student or course name (full or partial) and/or date range and/or plan type.

Stripe fees:

Note that this report cannot show you any Stripe transaction related fees based on the credit credit transaction itself as that is between you and Stripe and totally seperate from us.
